Question by layton v: windows laptop?
I have a legal copy of windows on my laptop how can I copy that program on a disk so I can put it on my other computer?

Answer by mikesglobal
You can’t. You are only supposed to use Windows on one computer.

However…………

…If you have a really old version of Windows, like ’98 or Me,….well…(hope I don’t get into any trouble here…)…you might checking your computer for a folder at: C:\windows\options. This folder has compressed copies of all the system files on the computer, as well as MS DOS, and an extractor — in other words, everything you need to install Windows. Unfortunately, you might need to have all of these files on floppy disks in order for this to work, and you would need upwards of 50 floppies. I’m not sure, but you also might be able to put all the cabinet files on a CD, and use the CD to install the files on your other computer.

I’ve never tried doing this myself, but you could certainly try.

Either use the recovery partition (different for all manufacturers, look up how to access it), or install Windows from a flash drive (again, look it up, because it’s different depending on your version of Windows).

Q&A: What is the lightest 17″ Windows laptop available currently?

Question by : What is the lightest 17″ Windows laptop available currently?
I’ve read that the Mac book Pro 17″ is the lightest at roughly 6.6 pounds, but this is for a user who does NOT like change. The user would have a difficult time migrating over to OS X and gets frustrated easily, so we don’t want to suggest that to her. Anybody out there have a really light 17″ laptop? Product page links would be appreciated!

Answer by Intel Clay
I don’t know the lightest but I looked up a bunch of 17″ laptops at Laptop Magazine here:

http://www.laptopmag.com/review/advsearch.aspx?pcid=1624&f2=17&f4=6.1%20-%208.0%20pounds

Two of the lighter laptops were the HP ProBook 4720 at 6.8 Lbs and the Samsung R780 which came in at 6.4 Lbs.

Both also come with a Core i5 processor which gives you plenty of horsepower with features like Turbo Boost and Hyper-Threading. Additionally, The 2010 Core i5 processor is built with 32nm technology so it gives you really excellent energy efficiency.

Also, this laptop must have a 2GB memory with both a writeable and playuable (useable) CD and DVD drive. The laptop must also contain a USB port. If so for how much and send me a link to the website so that I may look it over to see if I am interested.

Question by opieandy: How do I enable the laptop to beep when it is plugged or unplugged in Windows 7?
Prior versions of Windows automatically beeped when you plugged or unplugged the laptop. Windows 7 doesn’t appear to have a sound notification for this. I’ve checked the full list of windows sounds in the control panel as well as power options. Help!
